Our last update was regarding Basement Plumbing for Stehr House in Highland Twp Michigan
Sep-19-2006 Update.

For radiant heat, we are going to use ipex tubing in the basement slab. Bob Martin of Reddi-Wall and Steel Studs and Joists is supplying the tubing, the layout of the tubing, and the design of the HVAC system. Bob has presented various options to the STEHRs for the heat source -- the final selection will depend on the efficiency, reliability, the upfront cost and the life-cycle cost-effectiveness of the system.

The tubing is tied down to the Welded Wire Fabric to ensure that it would have adequate concrete cover. We are going to pressurize the tubing to nominally 90 psi and keep monitoring it.

Making sure that the pressure is holding is necessary not only for Mechanical Inspection, this will also help us ensure that nothing gets nicked or pricked during concrete placement in the basement slab, and other operations such as bracing for the ICF walls, and so on.

And Yes, the Mechanical Inspection passed today, Sep-27-2006, and now the concrete placement is planned for the morning of Friday Sep-29-2006.
