The basement slab concrete pour took place on Sep-29-2006. First Floor Steel Open Web Joists and Metal Deck installation work was completed on Oct-23-2006.

It is cold here today -- in the 20s at the time of pour -- in this part of Michigan. For cold weather concreting, we closed off the openings with visqueen, we used heaters in the basement to keep the First Floor Metal Deck warm, and we used Calcium Chloride accelerator in the mix. For crack control we used 1/2" long fiber -- 1 Lb per cubic yard mixed at the batch plant. Since our roof is up, we used lay-down- hose extension while pumping the concrete.

We did not place concrete in the porch slab. We will wait for a little warmer day to do that. At that time we will also place nominally 4" of additional concrete for the raised part in the Garage at the entrance to the house.

In the following few pictures I have tried to show the various parts of today's concreting operation.
