Basement wall for addition to the existing house collapses during backfill operation.
In Looking-at-a-Basement-Wall-Failure-During-Backfill-Operation-Part1, I showed a schematic of the addition to the existing house, the basement wall, and the collapse of the wall during backfill operation.
In this post I present a few pictures of the Insulating Concrete Form (ICF) wall. The wall of screen-grid type has a total thickness of 10 inches and has nominal 6" cylinderical section concrete at 10" c/c horizontally and 12" c/c vertically. The wall was reinforced with ASTM A615 Grade 60 rebars #4@10" c/c vertically and #4@24" c/c horizontally.
In the nexp post I will present pictures of the movement of the clayey soil as backfill againt the ICF wall, and a few pictures of the existing house and the addition work in progress.
