Richard Fair of Faron Roofing Company was contracted by the owner of the building to fix the cultured stone that was falling off the front face of the building as this was becoming a potential safety hazard. The building fronts a busy main street and hosts a large pedestrian traffic on the side-walk in front of the building.

It turns out that the building facade had gone through multiple face-lifts -- the latest one with cultured stone had two layers of thin-brick veneers underneath. While taking out the face veneers, it was discovered that the concrete in the reinforced concrete lintel was spalling off.

So we decided to investigate the structural condition of the reinforced concrete lintel. Being on a busy street with a lot of pedestrian traffic, the contractor had to provide for secure scaffolding and walkway for worker and pedestrian safety. Uncovering the lintel revealed that the concrete was spalling off near the bottom face of the lintel.
